Strategic Restructuring Drives Alliances and Growth: Siemens partners with Samsung C&T

Siemens is a benchmark example for restructuring and active portfolio management. Programs such as Siemens 2014, Vision 2020, or Vision 2020+ allowed to streamline the organization, spin off non-core businesses, and strategically adjust its portfolio to align with market trends and technological shifts. With ONE Tech Company, a new strategy opens the company to further growth paths, including partnerships.

ONE Tech Company

The ONE Tech Company program is a group-wide strategy focused on accelerating growth at Siemens by “combining the real and the digital worlds” – concretely, it refocuses on the three core businesses Digital Industries, Smart Infrastructure, and Mobility. It aims to increase customer focus, the pace of innovation, and profitable growth by having a highly synergistic, scalable portfolio as well as a new operating model.

Four levers drive the strategy:

  • Grow AI: Siemens is strengthening its leadership in industrial AI with an investment of over €1 billion in the next three years. AI is used to boost productivity and innovation, enhance existing products, and develop new AI offerings
  • Grow Digital: Siemens has surpassed its digital business growth target (now €9.4 billion) and now aims to double the business by 2030
  • Grow Regions: The company focuses on strategic growth and increased investments in key regional markets such as the USA (CAGR ~6%), China (CAGR ~4%), and India (CAGR >7%)
  • Grow Verticals: Siemens is bundling its complete offerings to provide seamless digital mapping of customers’ entire value chains across various industries. The goal is to consistently outpace growth in these vertical markets (CAGR 5% to 11%)

Siemens and Samsung C&T

Siemens has entered into a strategic global partnership with Samsung C&T Corporation (Engineering & Construction Group). This collaboration directly supports the “ONE Tech Company” approach by integrating Samsung C&T’s global EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) expertise with Siemens’ advanced capabilities in electrification, automation, and digitalization.

The partnership allows Siemens to utilize its full Smart Infrastructure and Digital Industries portfolio (Building X, Electrification X, Gridscale X, and Industrial Metaverse applications) to deliver integrated infrastructure intelligence.

The initial focus is on next-generation projects across key verticals and regions:

  • Vertical Markets (Grow Verticals): The projects span critical infrastructure sectors such as airports, hospitals, data centers, and buildings
  • Regional Markets (Grow Regions): Initial landmark projects are being executed in Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and Canada
